Ageing: Antico Gregori is crafted only in outstanding Vernaccia vintages. For some years the original base wine from the 1976 vintage was topped up with fractions of later vintages of the same wine, so as torevive the Flor yeast by a solera-like wine making process; following an extended oxidative aging period, the wine was then blended with tiny amounts of very old Vernaccias, whose original base wine dates back to the first decades of the 20th century.
Star bright topaz in color with amber tinges. The nose is complex and layered with intense notes of hazelnut, honey and walnut husk alongside touches of pastry cream. Hints of salted peanuts and figs mark the close. The warm, enveloping palate delivers an expected freshness and savory minerality while lending an amazing balance backed by the wine's hyper-extended finish. The flavors echo the aromas to perfection.
